Maplan on target for growth

Maplan is celebrating the beginning of construction of a new plant in Malacky, Slovakia where it is investing €4.5 million. The investment in Slovakia will be a boost to the Maplan headquarters in Austria! Maplan plans to invest a total of €20 million in new production facilities by the beginning of 2018. With over €50 million, 2017 has seen the highest turnover ever achieved for Maplan and the best order situation in its history.

Slovakia: Construction of the new plant begins

The preparation of the control cabinets has been underway in Malacky since 2015. Now expansion begins: Pre-production is being expanded and the production of metal parts and assembly of components has begun.

18 staff have already been hired in Slovakia and another 50 are planned to be added over the next years. A 3,500 square metre production hall and a 400 square metre office building will be built on the 30,000 square metre site. Ground-breaking at the 26 July at the industrial park in Malacky and opening is planned for March 2018. The location between Vienna and Bratislava offers perfect connections and infrastructure. The industrial area can also be expanded at a later time if necessary. Construction is under general direction of Strabag Slovakia and the plans have been drawn up by the renowned industrial architect Martin Stolciny.

Economic forecasts for Austria recently had to be corrected upwards, and MAPLAN is already feeling this movement in its figures. New employees are being hired and investment increased. The new plant in Kottingbrunn and the switch from individual production to line production allowed us to double our production capacity to over 500 machines per year in 2017 and to reduce throughput times by 30 percent.

Growth also in Europe

But Maplan is not resting on its laurels with its high-tech production in Europe, as its five-year goal is to achieve a turnover of €72 million! And to achieve this, Maplan is now investing in two new plants. In September, the company will start producing for the Asian market in China, and the components and assemblies are already being pre-manufactured in a new plant 130 kilometres from Kottingbrunn in Slovakia. “Our customers can rest assured that we will remain a best practice company and continue to set the industry standards for rubber injection technology.
